Job Description
The Internal Audit Manager will provide the internal audit function at NRWDI.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Develop and implement an approved audit charter for NRWDI and ensure that it is aligned with best practice and the NRWDI business strategy.
Develop, update and maintain internal audit policies and procedures ensuring it is in-line with best practice.
Outline the responsibilities and roles of NRWDI management in internal audit processes.
Review internal audit practices and continuously update the internal audit charter.
Prepare an annual internal audit plan for operational audits, financial audits, information systems audits, performance audits, governance, risk and compliance (GRC) audits and special assignments.
Monitor the adherence to the internal audit plan taking into account high risk areas and strategic risk assessments.
Ensure that approval from the Audit and Risk Committee of the NRWDI Board is granted for the internal audit plan and implementation strategy.
Ensure that internal audits are completed according to the approved plan and in line with relevant policy and procedures, and that findings and recommendations are documented.
Oversee the close out of the internal audit engagement/s and ensure findings are reported.
Provide feedback on findings and recommendations to the relevant stakeholders.
Partake in the steering committees of internal audit engagements and provide expert advice and knowledge to relevant stakeholders.
Evaluate the adequacy of internal audit engagements and related controls and identify process improvement opportunities.
Update internal audit methodologies where required.
Develop an annual internal audit report and obtain the required approval.
Develop a report highlighting and assessing governance issues, risk findings, compliance findings, and management controls.
Conduct a fraud risk assessment.
Develop and maintain a quality assurance program and report the results to the required stakeholders.
Ensure that NRWDI’s internal Audit activities conform to the Institute of Internal Auditors guidelines.
Oversee the external audit engagements conducted by the AGSA
Ensure that all matters of the AGSA management letter are addressed
Monitor and manage the AGSA audit findings register
